Zygopetaleae .II. " In compliment to James Bateman, Esq., of Kuypersley Hall , Cheshire , an ardent collector and successful cultivator of orchidaceous plants." Bateman (1811-1897) financed a botanical expedition to British Guiana in 1883, which resulted in the discovery of 20 new species of orchids. His " Orchids of Mexico and Guatemala" is one of the outstanding works in orchidology .
