Peristeria
Hooker , in Bot, Mag . 58 (1831) ,t. 3116 .
Gongoreae. II , III .Gr. peristerion (little pigeon ; dove ). Because of the column and beaked anther within the erect lateral lobes of the lip , the flower bears a fanciful likeness to a dove . A vernacular name of Peristeria elata is " Dove Plant."
