Angraecum distichum

Angraecum distichum

Small African species producing many white flowers. Likes intermediate temperatures with moderate light. Slow grower, but very rewarding. Angraecum distichum is a tiny orchid with the appearance of a strage trailing succulent - its physical parameters and shape distingush it radically from the rest of the genus . A. distichum has overhanging or trailing stems ,4-6.in /1 cm in size at most ,arranged in two thick raws. Individual white flowers grow out of the axils of the leaves and they have a hood shaped lip with a spur pointig backward . The species is poppular with growers as a curiosity and a miniature '' complementry '' orchid that will not adorn a collection with its flowers but with its interesting and rather rapidly growing bunches .Cultivation is not somplecated -the plant will settle for a suspended slab of bark or a twing with a handful of moss , occational misting and semi -shade . In the winter ,provide the plant with a somewhat cooler -temperate environment and reduce misting . The orchid blooms in late summer but flowers can sometimes appear in the other seasons as well. a. distichum comes from the tropical west of Africa.
