Bollea coronaria

Bollea coronaria is an orchid species which is still not fully explored and enumerated the seven species known so far have been found in temperate warm regions of South America. The plants resemble the genus Huntleya or Pescatorea- to which they are closely related . They have small pseudobulbs covered with two rows of robust, leathery, elongated leaves. This orchid has Very showy flowers on short spikes which grow individually from the axis of the leaves , with a conspicuous column and a blunt lip . The tepals of Bollea coronario are burgundy red and the lip is covered with fringed protruberances. Bollea coronaria comes to bloom in the fall. and the original home of this orchid is Venezuela.
