Bollea hemixantha is a very rare orchid with unique shades of white and pale pink with bright yellow tip. It thrives in higher elevations and are leafy fan - shaped plants and has large showy flowers that form singly around the orchids base.

the flowers of the species B. hemixantha are snow-white, the fleshy lip is deep yellow with the edge slightly fringed . Cultivation is relatiely easy . The plants require a moist environment in the vegetation period . In the wild Bollea hemixantha grow in the deeper parts of rainforests and therefore they prefer a shady environment without much direct sunlight. The fine roots of both the epiphytic and terrestrial species are ''accustomed'' to a thicker layer of organic material and should therefore be grown in flowerpots containing a humic medium that is kept permenently a little moist . Bollea hemixantha orchid blooms from the fall till the spring, The original home of this species is Colombia and Ecuador.
