Brassavola martiana

Brassavola martiana is commonly known as Von Martin's Brassavola [German orchid collector and Botanist in Brazil 1800's] is a species from Guyana in Northern South America. The features of this orchid are Terete leaves with white fimbriated lip. smallish and attractive, and thus rather popular collection orchid. The plant grows in a semi-arched or overhanging fashion. Its leaves reach lengths of up to 12 in /30 cm, they are thin and round in cross-section. The rather short flower spike bears 3-8 showy flowers,2-2.4 in /5-6 cm in size; their characteristic fature is the ruffled edge of the white lip. The other tepals are greenish-white. Grow the plant in the same way as the previous species. Brassavola martianai blooms n the summer. The original home of Brassavola martiana is the warm Amazon lowlands of Brazil and Guiana.
