Brassovola nodosa

Brassovola nodosa commonly known as the Lady of the NIght is an epiphytic orchid from tropical America. From Mexico and the West Indies to Venezuela and Peru, an orchid which thrives at intermediate to hot climate and at altitudes of up to 600 m on rocks and trees.

Compared to other representatives of the genus, the species Brassovola nodosa is smaller and most eager to bloom, a feature that rightly makes it the absolute favorite of all Brassavola orchids among orchid growers. Moreover , it is very undemanding and resistant to drought and cultivation errors. The inconspicuous pseudobulbs bear thick leaves that are semi-circular in cross-section and do not exeed a length of 6 in /15 cm - the drier and lighter the habits of the plant is , the chubbier and shorter the leaves. 1-5 highly decorative greenish-white flowers grow on short flower spikes from the individual pseudoblubs. Cultivation is easy . Even though Brassovola nodosa is not an overhanging species, we recommend that you attach it to twigs or bark slabs, because the roots are sensitive to overwatring . In winter or at a time when no new leaves are forming , the plants enjoy a period of rest lasting several weeks.This orchid blooms from summer to Autumn. The flowers are then more abundant.Brassovola nodosa's original home is countries of Central America.
