Brassavola subulifoliaBrassavola subulifolia (Brassavola cordata) is a hardy warm growing species from Jamaica with Clusters of white heart shaped blooms similar to but smaller and much more floriferous than Brassavola nodosa. This orchid is very fragrant at nightfall. The flowers of all the species of the genus Brassavola are intensely fragrant; since they give off their fragrace exclusively at night , pollinators will most likely recruit from the group of night butterflies (moths) . Brassavola subulifolia is an erect or semi -erect orchid, with leaves up to 8 in /20 cm long, the flower stalk is short (2.4 in /6 cm) and it bears 2-4 flowers . The flowers assume the shape of a symmetrical star and are usually petite-up to 1.5 in /3-4 cm across. This is a small and undemanding species , it is not widely known, and very rarely cultivated. The cultivation rules are the same as with the species Brassavola cucullata. This orchids original home is Brazil and Bolivia.
