Another robust Cattleya;the ''unwieldiness''of the plants is counterbalanced by their resistanceto cultivation errors , as well as their heroic blooming . The pseudobulbs reach the height of up to 28 in/ 70 cm and bear usually two , occasionally three leathery tough leaves. The flower raceme is erect and consists of up to 15 very tough flowers. The middle , circular lobe of the three lobed lip is enhanced with purple color, the tepals are green and embellished with brownish -red dots . The plants stretch out excessively shady place. Otherwise the species has no other cultivation surprises in store.C.guttata blooms between September and December, and occurs in the wild only occasionally- in Brazil.
