cattleya luteola

Aunifoliate miniature species , suitable even for growing in smaller cultivation equipment . Admittedly, its flowers are quite small (1.6in /4cm),but their color is highly rated, as sulfur yellow is quite rare in Cattleyas. The pseudobulbs of this genus reach up to 6 in /15 cm in size ,and a short spike numbers 2-5 flowers. The lip is yellow with a white edge and an orange-and- red marking inside the conspicuous tubular throat . C . luteola requires a warmer, and at the same time more humid ,environment for cultivation , which is a combination that some growers may find a bit difficult to achieve. The species flowers in the fall and in the winter. It is an epiphyte and grows in Amazonia -north and west of Manaos.
