The full-colored variety of this species is not valued as highly as the albinic version C. mossiae var. wageneri that has pure-white flowers with a yellowish lip, and is hardly second to the white-flowered Cattleya hybrids. The pseudobulbs are unifoliate,quite thick,clubshaped and are topped with one thick ,tough leaf. The flower spike bears up to 5 sizeable flowers. A typical specimen of the species is characterized by a particularly wavy lip with a yellow throat and purple venation. The other tepals are pale pink -and - purple . The species is undemanding in cultivation ,and blooms between June and August. It is natural habitat is in Venezuela.
