A small,''display-case''Cattleya species with large flowers. Bifoliate pseudobulbs barely reach the size of 4-6 in/10-15cm. The flowers ,up to 4 in/ 10 cm in size,appear singly or in pairs on a short spike. They have a three-lobe, pale purple lip with a brownish ornament. The tepals are green, with a tinge of red,and are thickly covered with purple -and - brown dots. Cultivation is easy. Epiphytic growing is recommended. Specimens of the species flower irregularly between February and July. C. schilleriana comes from Brazil.
