This orchid that represents a very notable genus -with regard to cultivation -is one of the smallest species. It is a popular plant, and frequently cultivated by amateures. Its oval bifoliate pseudobulbs reach a maximum size of 1.2 in / 3 cm and they grow in 1.2-2 in 3-5 cm distances from eachother on a trailing rhizome. The leaves are narrow and lanceolate, the flower shoots grows out of their axils and bears 1-2 flowers . The color of the flowers is an unusual shade of creamy brown ; they are a little transparent ,with a russet embellishment on the lip . The plant is highly decorative ,especially if allowed to grow into bigger bunches . Cultivation is manageable even by a novice orchid -grower, who must provide the plant with a somewhat cooler(thus also shadier) and moister environment ; in the summer ,you can place it in the crown of a tree in the garden . Cultivation in flowerpots is preferable to epiphytic culture . The plant bloom between August and November ,and comes from a vast Asian area-China,northern India,Malaysia ,Thailand,Vietnam and other countries.
