coelogyne-lacteaAn attractive representative of the genus Coelogyne. It grows in drier,sparse forests in the company of the deciduous dendrobium orchids. Its egg-shaped pseudobulbs are 4.8 in/12 cm tall, bearing a couple of leaves with a typical Coelogyne grooving that reach lenghts of 8 in/20 cm. The horizontally projected flower raceme consists of 5-10 attractive cream-white flowers that are 1.6 . in /4 cm in diameter . The showy lip is embellish with a delicate ,yellow -to -light brown ornament . Grow the species as you would the more thermophilic representatives of the genus (e.g ., C.dayana ). You will facilitate the blooming proces by slightly reducing the temperature and watering in the winter. The species blooms between February and April and comes from Burma,Laos,Thailand and Vietnam.
