This species , which is not yet commonly included in collections ,has flowers of quite an unusual color and size . The pseudobulbs reach lengths up to 3.2 in ./8 cm and bear a 8-12 in /20-30 cm long ,narrow lanceolate leaf. The inflorescence consists of no more than 2-3 flowers of a very unusual size by Coelogyne standards -up to 4.8 in/12 cm. The lip has a russet decoration and a frilly surface;the color of other tepals is a cross between yellowish and brownish . An albinic form -var.alba-is also known to exist . The plant's life requirements resemble those of C.dayana , except that it is a little less demanding warmth . The best way to grow it is in a flowerpot with a light , fine substrate, although it will withstand epiphytic cultivation . It blooms early in the year -between January and April . It comes from medium elevations (3,300-5,000 ft /1,000-1,500 m above sea level) of mainland Malaysia,from Borneo,Java and Sumatra.
