The orchids of the genus Cycnoches are remarkable for their lifestyle,and also their rather large ,spectacular flowers. It does not differ very much from the genera Catasetum and Mormodes in appearance and ecological needs. The species C. chlorochilon is sometimes considered a subspecies of C. ventricosum. The pseudobulbs are up to 14 in /35 cm in size,the leaves are even longer. A short stalk numbers 3-10 green -and-yellow flowers that are 3.2-4 in/8-10 cm in diameter. As with the other cycnoches orchids ,the flowers are resupinate-their lip is pointing upward. The species blooms between June and August and comes from Panama,Colombia,Venezuela and Guiana.
