Cyrtopodium-glutiniferumOnly the epiphytic members of the genus Cyrtopodium are suitable for cultivation,as the bulbs of the terrestrial species are too robust (longer than 20 in /50 cm! ).The clustered inflorescences bear typical, conspicuously large, evergreen bracts, identical in color with the flowers . The terrestrial species C. glutiferum has smaller -''only'' 8 in /20 -cm -tall- deciduous ,spindle-shaped pseudobulbs . The flower stalk is oftern branched out and reaches a height of 3.3 ft/1m. It bears a large number of tiny (0.6 in/1.5 cm) flowers. Should anyone actually choose to grow this species ,it is recommended to use a permiable mix with an addition of soil . In order to bloom and develop well ,the plant needs moderately moist semi-shade in the summer and a period of rest in the winter. The plants bloom in the spring . The species grows in Venezuela and the neighboring the South American countries.
