dendrobium-amethystoglossum

A typical representative of the genus ,as regards morphology: it has long ,grooved pseudobulbs, thickly foliaged , and up to 32 in /80 cm long . The overhanging raceme of white ,purple-liped flowers that are 1-2 in/3 cm in diameter, grows from the apex of the foliaged pseudobulbs; it follows that the plant most likely does not need an extensive period of rest. Grow it epiphytically -or,better still-in a light media in a wooden basket. Flowers appear on the mature pseudobulbs between November and March. The species is native to Philippines.
