dendrobium-anosmum

These rather large puple flowers with beautiful frilled lips grow in pairs from the internodes of the leafless pseudobulbs. Grow the species epiphytically like the other deciduous species (see D. albo -sanguineum). Flowers appear at the beggining of the rainy season ,that is, in March and April . As with almost all ''tree-dwellers''(a literal translation of the Latin term Dendrobium),the species grows epiphytically ,in sparse semi-decidous forests at medium altitudes and in foothills. It has a very large geograhical range-from Sri Lanka and India ,to the Philippines and New Guinea.
