dendrobium-antennatum

An interesting evergreen Dendrobium orchid -its flowers have (as in the case of similar species ,D.stratiotes)an extraordinary morphology . The stem pseudobulbs are erect , up to 16 in /40 cm tall and thickly foliaged . The sparse inflorescence bearing 3-7 flowers is up to 12 in /30 cm tall . The flowers are whitish ,1.6 in/4 cm in diameter . The lateral sepals are extended in the rear part and form a blunt spurlike protuberance. However ,what attracts attention are chiefly the erect, spindle-shaped ,green-and -yellow petals reaching up to 1.8 in/ 4.5 cm in length . The lip is embellished with a delicate pinkish pure marking . The species requires the same conditions as D.phalaenopsis,it flowers between May and August and comes from New Guinea.
