dendrobium-christyanum

A congenial species as far as size and appearance are concerned . It creates short thick spindle -shaped pseudobulbs with 2-3 grey -and -green leaves on the top. The flowers grow singly or in pairs and are quite large(1.6 in/4 cm)in proportion to the size of the plant . Their tepals are snow-white ,each with a blunt protuberance jutting out backward and a lip extended forward; its gullet and axis are adorned with an impressive red spot that gradually turns orange and yellow. This species needs a fairly warm period of rest. Its late blooming in the year(June to August)complicates its cultivation, as new pseudobulbs oftern do not stop developing before winter and the lack of light causes them to be small or deformed . Thailand and Vietnam are the species ' countries of orgin.
