One of the world's rarest orchids that is hardly ever found in wild-its habitats are all but extinct now. The species was native to the warm lowlands of the Malayan Peninsula,an area that has been subject to intensive farming for more than a millenium. The species D.cruentum is therefore listed in Appendix 1of the CITES international convention . It is one of the indeciduous Dendrobia . Its stem pseudobulbs reach 12-16 in /30-40 cm in length ,and produce on their apexes 1-2 showy flowers(1.4 -2 in /3.5 -5 cm in diameter)with yellow -and -green tepals. The lip is covered with brick-red verrucose protuberances. Grow the plants as you would the other themophilic Dendrobia. The flowers appear irregularly throughout the year .D. cruentum comes from Malaysia and Thailand.
