dendrobium-friedericksianum

A semi -deciduous species with club -shaped,extended pseudobulbs bearing thick foliage at the time of growth . Large flowers appear on the upper part of the mature and , by that time ,usually barren pseudobulbs. The sulfur-yellow tepals are dominated by a brown -and-red gullet of the robust cone-shaped lip. The plant is propagated by dividing the bunches and mounting the separate clusters onto bare wooden slabs. As the pseudobulbs are very heavy ,it is necessary to secure the plant aganist uprooting in the intial phase . It takes the plant between 1-2 years before it secures its stability with its own roots . The species blooms between February and May and comes from Thailand.
