dendrobium-jacobsonii

Red color is not very common with the flowers of Dendrobium orchids, which makes every specimen endowed with red flowers a rare and cherished gem of orchid collection . The species D. jacobsonii has very long ,thickly foliaged pseudobulbs that do not bloom before reaching compleate maturity and shed nearly all their leaves. Individual brick-red flowers grow out of the internodes of the pseudobulbs , sometimes several seasons in a raw. The flowers appear in early spring . The species comes from southeast Asia.
