dendrobium-lituiflorum

An orchid with lovely flowers and thin , overhanging pseudobulbs that reach a length of up to 24 in/60 cm. The leaves measure 4 in /10 cm and the plants sheds every single one of them . One or two flowers are formed in the internodes between the individual joints and are quite bulky (up to 2 in /5 cm) . The whitish ,cone-shaped lip with a purple gullet is surrounded by other vilot tepals. A well-grown specimen in full bloom is an unforgetable sight . Cultivation requirements are the same as those of other deciduous Dendrobium orchids. The species flowers in the spring (April to May)in semi-deciduous ,isolated forests of India ,Burma and Thailand.
