This orchid will immediately catch your eye with the color of its tepals that is rare and unique not only within the Dendrobium genus, but among orchids throughout the world .The semi -deciduou spseudobulbs reach a length of upto 20 in/50 cm ,but in most cases they are much shorter . Sparse inflorescence bearing 1-3 flowers grow out of the knots of the upper parts of the mature pseudobulbs. The flowers are purplish -blue ,with a slightly darker ,lengthwise venation on the tepals and a whitish center. Grow the plant in a somewhat warm and moist environment and provide it with just a brief period of rest. Flowers appear irregularly ,usually at the end of the summer. The species comes from the Philippines.
