dendrobium-virgineum

A semi-deciduous robust Dendrobium orchid with large flowers. The pseudobulbs are 14 in/ 35 cm long . The flowers are up to 3 in/ 7.5 cm across and appear from between the uppermost broad,leathery leaves. The white flower with a spur-shaped protuberance is dominated by a robust ,wavy ,lobed lip embellished with two orange -and-red spots . Grow the plants epiphytically in warm and moist conditions throughout the year,with out substantial rest period. The flowers appear only sporadically in cultivation . They bloom in the wilderness in Thailand ,mostly between June and August .
