diploprora-truncata

diploprora-truncata

This species is not very attractive esthetically or with regard to cultivation;however ,it is appealing for collectors of rare botanical orchids . It does not differ much in appearance from D.championi . The monopodial clusters of leaves consist of 3-6 leaves . The erect ,sparse flower raceme consists of 5-7 whitish flowers that are 0.7 in/1.7 cm in diameter . Their only decoration is the arched lip that is ''cut off'' at the end. Its yellow inner part is embellished with a delicate purple marking . The proportions and ecological needs of the species make it suitable even for smaller indoor glass cases with poor ventilation . D.truncata blooms between March and May and inhabits green terminal branches of trees on the mountaintops in northern Thailand(4,600-5,900 ft/ 1,400-1,800 m above sea level).
