encyclia-vespa(hormidium-crassilabium)

A highly variable plant that is very hard to classy . Its bifoliate , bare pseudobulbs are 2-16 in / 5-40 cm tall and consist of a number of joints , a feature which might possibly place it among Epidendrum, or rather Hormidium, orchids. It is a fairly plain orchid :its resupinated greenish flowers are arranged in an erect inflorescence bearing 3-7 flowers and their tepals are decorated with purple spots . E. vespa is a completely undemanding species, well-suited even for amateur collections. It can be grown in semi-shades ,either epiphytically (which will keep it smaller in proportions)or in an epiphytic substrate in a flowerpot (in which case you have to be prepared for much bulkier products). The plant blooms between the fall and late winter and is known to grow in the tropical regions of the American continent .
