dendrobium-pseudepidendrum

dendrobium-pseudepidendrum

A truely spectacular orchid with regard to appearance of its flower;unfortunately it is too bulky -its tree-trunkish stems with two raws of leaves that reach lengths of 6.4 in 16 cm easily surpass a length 32 in ./ 80 cm ! some 3-5 green flowers appear between June and Jully ,they are unusually large and spot an orange and red lip. The species is not hard to cultivate ; as with all the representatives of the genus Epidendrum,it requires a substancial amount of light (otherwise the shoots extend excessively and do not produce flowers), regular watering and a period of rest in the winter . The orchid was discovered in Panama and Costa Rica.
