The small Gomesa genus that includes only about 20 species is quite showy in appearance,be it the form of the vegitative organs or the shape and proportions of the overhanging inflorescences. Unfortunately ,the crispate flowers that are about 0.8 in/2 cm in diameter are extremely short-lived .Gomesa orchids used to be included in the genus Rodriguezia. The species G.crispa has 2.3-3.6 -in /6-9 -cm tall pseudobulbs bearing 2-3 pointed leaves that reach lengths of 10 in /25 cm . The overhanging ,numorous ,dense racemes of yellowish -to -greenish flowers grow out of the base of the pseudobulbs and are up to 8 in /20 cm long . In culture ,it is an epiphyte with average requirements for watering and light .It blooms in the spring -May to June,and its habitat is in Brazil.
