haraella-odorataA spectacular miniature orchid that is quite common in collections . The stem of these inconspicuous little plants reaches a length of up to 0.4 in /1 cm and is covered with elongated fleshy leaves that are up to 1.6 in / 4cm long . The lower part of the stem gives rise to short flower scapes bearing a single flower that is 0.8 -1.2 in / 2-3 cm across and sports a remarkably elongated lip . The edges of this russet lip are typically firmbriated . Growing this orchid is not hard -but bear in mind that as a tiny species ,H. odorata is more sensitive to overdrying or other cultivation errors . It thrives in semi-shady conditions that are warm round the year. It blooms between july and November and comes from T. haiwan.
