holcoglossum -kimballianum

holcoglossum -kimballianum

Outside of the flowering period ,these plants closely resemble specimens of H. amesianum ,except that their leaves are thinner and narrower . The tepals of the beautiful flowers are radically narrowed at the bases ,and the broad ,red-and-purple lip is interwoven with crimson venation. Despite being an epiphytic orchid , H.kimballianum ought to be grown in containers with a durable fragmented substrate. Frequent is also a ''naked '' style of cultivation -in suspend wooden baskets ,with the numorous long roots of the plants hanging down from them . Orchid of this genus need plenty of light and more warmth than Vanda orchids (it is a generally accepted rule that the rounder and narrower foliage is of an orchid of either of the related genera, the more thermophilic and photophilic it is ) . In the winter ,always reduce temperature and watering intensity , as the plants suffer from insufficient light that causes them to stagnate .H.kimballianum blooms between September and October an comes from southern china ,Burma and Thailand.
