isochilus-linearis

isochilus-linearis

The plants of this two member genus are not grown every oftern by orchid lovers ; this is partly owing to the higher requirements of thr plants , and partly due to their plain looks. These terrestrial and epiphytic orchids form stiff, erect -to- overhanging stems, densely covered with two rows of soft leaves arranged to resemble a feather. The apical inflorescences bear a small number of bell-shaped flowers crowded on the spike . The stems of I.linearis reach lengths of up to 2.4 in/6 cm each. The small flowers arranged in two rows are either white ,orange or red. Because of the low resistance of the roots to overdrying ,it is recommended to grow the plants in the flowerpots ,using a classic epiphytic substrate. The species blooms irregularly ,usually in the spring ,and it grows all over tropical America.
