This orchid is closely related to the previous species. It has spindle-shaped bifoliate pseudobulbs that reach lengths of up to 3.2 in/ 8 cm ,and 4.8 -6 -in /12 -15 -cm -long ,leathery leaves . Theinflorescence is is up to 20 in/50 cm tall and consists of 3-5 shiny purple flowers . L. autumnalis,too,has a very rare white variety . Grow the plants in a coarse ,permeable mix in suspended flowerpots . Epiphytic culture is also possible -on largish branches or slabs of bark . The plants require cool conditions in the winter and a rest of several weeks after the flowers fade. It is necessary to ensure sufficient light through out the whole year,but make sure to protect the plant foam getting burned by direct sunshine . The species blooms in the winter and its habitat in Mexico.
