Its miniature proportions and showy flowers make L. rossii a very popular orchid -sadly ,attempts at cultivation oftern face the problem of the cryophilia typical of the whole genus . The pseudobulbs are oval and only 0.8 -1.2 in/2-3 cm long ,the leaves reach lengths of up to 4.8 in /12cm. The flower spikes usually bear only one flower (rarely 2-3). The flowers are up to 2.4 in/6 cm across,their tepals are yellowish ,with brown spots ; the wider petals have similar spots only at the base. The lip is wide ,wavy and pink with tinge of white .The plant blooms in a period favorable for cultivators -between February and April-and it has been reported to grow in Central American states between Mexico and Nicaragua.
