lemboglossum-wyattianum

lemboglossum-wyattianum

The flowers of this species seem to be trying to prove that almighty Mother Nature is able to conjure up any color combination and that She possesses endless esthetic capacities and imagination! Some 2-4 flowers ,reaching sizes of 2.8 in/7 cm,grow on a 6-in/15 -cm -long flower spike and their beauty is absolutely indescribable-one look at their whitish, widened lip frilled on the sides and embellished with a complex purplish blue pattern will prove the truth of this claim. Moreover ,the plant is rather small in proportions . It forms medium-flattened ,elongated egg-shaped bifoliate pseudobulbs with lengthwise grooves, reaching lengths of 3.2 in/8 cm . The thin leaves are 8 in/20 cm long at the most . The species is attractive but ,unfortunately ,difficult to cultivate . It requirs conditions recommended for the cryophilic representatives of the genus ,it blooms between the fall and spring and comes from Ecuador and Peru.
