The genus Leochilus includes about 15 mostly small and undemanding species ,suitable for little amateur collections. The plant in the photo (L.oncidioides?)is, besides being undemanding in cultivation,attractive for its abundance of tiny ,sometimes partly transparent ,white flowers with a delicate reddish marking . The unifoliate pseudobulbs are ball-shaped and very minute,the soft lineated leaves are 4-6 in/10 -15 cm long. Two or three overhanging inflorescenes grow out of the bases of the pseudobulbs , each of them bearing 1-8 little flowers . Grow it epiphytically . It usually blooms between March and April . Its habitat is in the warm and moist area sourrounding Orizaba,Mexico and Panama and also in Cuba.
