liparisAs far as cultivation is concerned ,the propical representatives of the genus Liparis are not really attractive -the plants are rather large and their flowers are usually unremarkable ,growing in erect racemes . The flower spike is 14 in /35 cm tall and grows out of the apex of a usually bifoliate,cone-shaped pseudobulb that is not very firm.L. nutans is one of the few exceptions with in the genus Liparis with showir flowers;their shiny orange color stands out especially well from the broad lip. Grow these species in a permenetly slightly moist peat substrate in flowerpots. Caution: direct sunshine is sure to cause damage or completely destroy them. In the winter, you can reduce temperature somewhat in shadier growing environments. Liparis orchids are widespread not only in the tropics but also in Temperature and Cool Zones all over the world .
