Miltonia candida

There is a considerable amunt of confusion connected with the systamatic classification of many groups of orchids with in family Orchidaceae;this is caused by the vast amount of different shapes of orchids assume,as well as their oftern unclear relations. The genus Miltonia is a good example of this phenomenon-the differences in the morphology of its flowers and those of Odontoglossum orchids are animal. The species M.candida has 2.4 in/6 -cm - long ,bifoliate pseudobulbs. Its leaves are thin and up to 12 in/30 cm long . The erect flower spike bears 3.2 -in/8 -cm- large yellow - and - green flowers with brown spots and a whitish oval lip that is purplish on the inside . Cultivation of this epiphytic orchid is easy(see M. clowesii). The species blooms in the late summer and comes from Brazil.
