Miltonia regnellii

A pretty a and rather small Miltonia orchid that is also ver y attractive for cultivation . Its bifoliate pseudobulbs are elongated and egg-shaped ,reaching lengths of 2-3.2 in/ 5-8 cm. The thin ,soft leaves measure 6-10 in /15-25 cm . The flower raceme can bear 5-8 flowers that are 2 in / 5 cm in diameter and arranged in two rows. The tepals are typically whitish ; the plant in the photo has flowers adorned with brownish spots,which possibly makes it botanical hybrid with the species M .clowesii. The broad wavy lip is light pink with a whitish base and dark venation. The plant should be grown in the same way as other Brazilian Militonia orchids. The flowers appear in the summer. The plant was first discovered in eastern Brazil.
