Nanodes sp

Nanodes sp

There are many uncertainities in the taxonamy of this genus-a high number of small, plain-looking orchids grow in tropical America that are classified differently by different authors. Moreover ,there is no general agreement as to whether the plants belong in the genera Nanodes ,Epidendrum or ,most recently ,Neolehmannia.Be it as it may ,the species in the photo (N.barbeyana?) is a pretty ,clustered miniature ,usuful in small amateur collections as an ''accessory''green epiphyte . The terminal flowers are whitish and have no decorative value to speak of. This undemanding plant should be grown in the same way as N.porpax. It blooms irregularly (mostly in the winter) and comes from Ecuador and other countries .
