Nanodes medusaeA charcteristic feature of the genus Nanodes are its overhanging soft stems, slightly ascending on the ends and densely covered covered with two rows of short succulent leaves . The flowers positioned on the ends of the stems are yellow-and -green and up to 3.2 in /8 cm in diameter. They are dominated by a brown -and - red ,fimbriated lip . This bizzare and highly sought -after species is not very easy to cultivate. The plants need a higher level of air humidity and good ventilation-this compination is impossible to achive in hot summer days and the delicate stems or buds tend to dry up . Therefore, mount them in a thick layer of peat moss. The species blooms between July and August . It is native to Ecuador.
