Oberonia spThe whole genus of Oberonia is of absolutely no interst for cultivation -its flowers are no bigger than 0.04-0.08 in/1-2 mm. However ,curiosity -growers might be intriguied by the peculiar iris-like morphology of these small orchids. The plant does not create any stems or ;its flat, pointed leaves grow out of one another. The over hanging inflorescences, consisting of dozens and hundreds tiny flowers, are sometimes compared to the infructescence of a European weed called''little mouse tail'' (myosurus minimus). Cultivation of these plants is not very complecated: these shade-loving plants must not be exposed to any extreme conditions due to their minuscule proportions. Epiphytic culture is recommended ;when mounting the plants on a support, add a handful of moss to the roots. Some 200 species of this genus are widespread in eastern Africa,India, south western Asia and Pacific Islands. The species in the photo taken in Thailand blooms in November and December.
