Oncidium nanumThis orchid is alternatevely called ''dog ears'' (same as its enlarged ''copy ''-O .luridum ), for such is the shape of its intensely succulent ,tough ,3-6 in /8-15-cm -long leaves. The pseudobulbs were reduced and the short inflorescence grows out of the axils of the leaves in a short rhizome. The branched flower spike is not longer than the leaves and up to 20 tiny brown-and -yellow flowers ,0.6 in /1.5 cm across. Its proportions and low cultivation demands make O . nanum a highly sought -after rarity . Grow it epiphytically ;after the leaves mature ,you can treat the plant to brief dry break. The flowers appear between May and June. The plant orginated in the rain forests of Guina ,Brazil and Peru.
