Ornicidum tigrinum

A very robust plant that is ( or rather ,was ) sometimes grown for cut flowers due to its high number of flowers . It not exctly fit for amateur collections . Its bifoliate pseudobulbs are up to 3.6 in/9 cm long ;the leaves are three times as long . The plant's erect spike is usually unbranched and bears 15 -20 sparse flowers that are up to 2 in/5 cm across . The brown -and - yellow tepals are dominated by a broad sulfur -yellow lip that is markedly narrowed at the base . This species is no ''troublemaker''in cultivation. It blooms between September and November and was discoverd in Mexico.
