Paphiopedilum coccineum

A dernier cri in the world of Venus's shoes , and very handsome on top of that! It resembles P. helenae in appearance. It intensely red-and -brown tepals have greenish ,slightly wavy edges. There is no information available on how to cultivate it . The species was discovered and discribed only very recently -in 2000. It was found in the Cao Bang Province in northern Vietnam ,in the cracks of limestone rocks in the altitudes of 1,600-2,600 ft/500-800 m above sea level . It is unlikely to grow in its orginal natural habitat anymore,owing to the greed of some humans .
