Paphiopedilum henryanum

Paphiopedilum henryanum

Its dwarf parameters and high cultivation demands makes this plant resemble the previous species . It is a highly sought after curiosity ,mainly for its singular flowers . Its one-flowered spikes are up to 2.8 in/7 cm tall and grow out of compact rosettes of leaves reaching lengths of 4 in /10 cm . The flowers have a broadened ,yellow -and-green upper sepal covered with brown -and - red spots of various sizes ; the same spots also embellish the basal parts of the wine-red petals . The lip is intensely purple -and -red with a metallic shine. This Venus's shoe ought to be grown in a similar way as the previous one : both species must be provided with semi-shade and a well -ventilated environment . This attractive ''mini-species ''blooms in the spring and is known to grow in northern Vietnam.
