Paphiopedilum intaniae

A multi -flowered ,rare and elegant representative of the genus,related to the species P. randsii and P. Philippinense . Some 3-5 flowers grow on an erect flower spike that reaches a length of 20 in /50 cm and they all open at the same time . The plants belt-shaped leaves measure 16 in/ 40 cm at the most . The yellow and green flowers have stripy elongated sepals and markedly extended ,dotted leaves . The lip ,too ,is extended forward to look like a pipe ,it is whitish at the base and light -brown -and-red on the end . This plant has to be grown in flowerpots enriched with pieces of lime stone and in the other representatives of the genus . P. intaniae was discovered on limestone rocks in the southern part of Sulawesi ,Indonesia .
