Paphiopedilum krairitii

Paphiopedilum krairitii

The name of this quite recently (2001-2002) discovered plant is only a working name and there has not been enough time for it to be scientifically proven ! This brand new species was not discovered in the wild but in culture among imported specimens considered to be a Thai species P. charlesworthii. Paradoxically ,the foundling does not resemble P. charlesworthii in appearance very much ; rather ,it resembles P. barbigerum or P. coccineum . Its distinguishing feature from both latter species is the morphology of its flower column . There is no information available so far about the species ' cultivation requirements . It is supposed to bloom in the spring and it is native to Thailand.
